The “Smart Meals” initiative seeks to resolve the issues with food inaccessibility in the Okanagan. With numerous community members being unable to sustain consistent access to nutritious food during their lifetime; the smart meals initiative strives to mitigate the severity of malnutrition on their social life and personal well-being. This is done by establishing an emergency food supply that is made available for them to use. Through each purchase of the “Smart Meal” menu item from our partners, a dollar from the sale will be contributed towards providing the most needed food items and non food items with the goal of supporting the operations of our various community partners like The Salvation Army Penticton and the UBCO food exchange. Smart Donate is striving to expand its reach to help future partners like the central okanagan food bank and its subsidiaries in the near future to help the Okanagan community become hunger free.
We are very thankful to Basil & Mint for helping us pilot the initiative and help countless students on the UBCO campus as a pilot “back to school” campaign.
